PRIESTLEY DRAMA AT AIREBOROUGH G.S.
Suspense and mystery are the main ingredients of a commendable
production of J. B. Priestley’s intriguing drama “I have been here before”,
given by scholars of
The talented cast of six players have a hard task,
but to their credit they are more than equal, and evoke just the correct amount
of sympathy, pathos and a little blunt
The audience are spared the embarrassment of missed
or hurried lines — sometimes
predominant in local amateur productions – and it is obvious that the
producer, G. P. White, has had the full support of a willing team of players.
The action of the play takes place in an inn on the
This part is handled in masterly fashion by B. J
Harris in a truly memorable portrayal. In addition to a well-acquired accent,
his acting ability Is of the highest order.
No less convincing is R. Peakman as a successful businessman
whose inner feelings and fears are laid bare by the probing mind of the
professor. M. Atkinson, as his wife could not be faulted, and M. E Laughton
does well in the part of a school headmaster recovering from a nervous
breakdown.
